Getting stuck in a state of depression or thoughts of harming yourself or others can be a scary feeling. If you ever feel hopeless or isolated, like you cannot reach out to family or friends, there are mental health resources available to you.
Here are 3 resources to reach for if you’re feeling depressed, down, or hopeless:
Hotlines: Hotlines are usually 24/7 and will always answer your call or text, depending on what you are most comfortable with. Some examples include:
988 - This is the suicide and crisis lifeline, where you can call or text anytime.
The Trevor Project Crisis Line - (866) 488-7386 - LGBTQ+ specific line
Crisis Text Line - text HOME to 741-741
Uwill Mental Health Crisis Line- Call (833) 646-1526
2NDFLOOR - 888-222-2228 - As a resident of New Jersey, this is our state youth helpline for the youth and young adults.
Therapy: Whether in-person or remote, therapy is a great way to spill your feelings and receive support or advice from a mental health expert. Everyone’s lives are different, and therapists exist to help you. You can reach out to any local therapist, but if you are still in school, there is a chance that your school offers in-school therapy and/or counseling, or even peer support groups.
Digital wellness apps: After reaching out to professionals, you can try various apps for improved mental health and wellness. One of my favorite mental health apps is Quabble – Try it today and be sure to set a reminder in the app to keep you and your duck happy!
If you or a loved one is in a state of crisis, know that resources are available to you at all times. Tell yourself and those around you that you are loved. From a healing individual to another, stay safe out there.♡
