You should be proud of being ambitious, but sometimes it gets to a point where you’re too ambitious. Prioritizing work over your own health should not be normalized, and a way to prevent yourself from burnout is to see the signs your body tells you when you are working too hard.

Signs of Burnout

  • Lack of motivation
It might be hard to get yourself to do certain tasks, and it can go as far as having trouble getting up in the morning.

  • Forgetting the simplest tasks
Some things that are normally second nature can become hard to recall, such as a password.

  • Misunderstanding other people (brain fog)

  • Physical symptoms
    Headaches, chest pain

Some people walk past these signs as they are stubborn and think that they can keep working for days on end, without asking for help.

What can you do to recover?

  • Don’t let your pride take the best of you. Ask for help especially when it’s offered to you.

  • Set time for yourself to rest.
Take a mental health day. This allows you to take time for yourself to recharge.

  • Take work related stress out of your mind and do some self-care.
The Quabble app offers many workouts to bring your mind to peace, including Watermelon Tai-Chi. This is a good way to breathe and forget the world around you.

It is easy to fall back into the cycle of working past your limit and resting, which is why there needs to be a sense of balance between working and taking time for yourself.

A simple way to do this is by allowing some time dedicated to relaxing every day, and the Quabble app is great for that. It can send you notifications reminding you to breathe or write down your worries. Nothing is better than ending your day with a calm mindset.
